Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has stated that the government has withdrawn his security following his participation in the Gen Z protests on June 25, 2025.
In a statement issued on June 26, Babu Owino said he will not be intimidated following the withdrawal of his security, adding that it is a clear sign of a government that fears accountability.
“Yesterday, I stood with the people, not against the nation, but for its future. I exercised my democratic right to protest peacefully against the actions of a government that is failing to meet its citizens’ needs. Today, in retaliation, the government has withdrawn my official security,” part of his statement.
He further stated that the move was not just a personal attack, but an assault on democracy itself.

In his statement, he added that elected leaders are punished for standing with the people, which signals a government that fears accountability rather than one that serves its citizens.
“I do not fear intimidation. I will not be silenced. My voice, and the voice of every citizen demanding justice, fairness, and freedom, will only grow louder. Kenyans are my security,” he added.
He has advised the public to stay alert and united because elected leaders should be accountable to the citizens and stand by them.
Additionally, he reiterated that the truth cannot be suppressed, and the movement cannot be stopped.

Embakasi East MP Joined Demonstrations
On June 25, Babu Owino took part in the protest to speak out against injustice, corruption, the high cost of living, rising unemployment, and a system that benefits a few while silencing the majority.
“Today, across our streets and public spaces, brave Kenyans exercised their constitutional right to assemble, to speak, and to be heard. They came not with violence, but with courage. Not with weapons, but with hope. They stood against injustice, economic strain, and misgovernance, and for that, some were arrested,” read his statement.
He called on the National Police Service to exercise restraint, protect citizens, and refrain from carrying out unlawful arrests.
