Activists Boniface Mwangi and Hussein Khalid have been arrested during the anti-government protests in Nairobi CBD.
According to reports, the two activists have been arrested and are currently being held at Central Police station.
Reports indicate that the duo was arrested as police dispersed protestors who had planned to take a petition to the Office of the President concerning the killed Gen Z protestors.
In a statement before the protests, Mwangi urged the youth to gather on Kimathi Street at 11am to mourn the protesters killed in previous protests.
Besides, he told the youth to take note of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and slam him in case they meet him on the streets.
“See you on Kimathi Street at 11am. Let’s escort the families of our heroes to the crime scene to lay flowers. If you see Raila anywhere, record a video calling him a traitor, let that old man spend the rest of his life knowing he betrayed Kenyans for a few coins,” Mwangi said.
Kasmuel McOure Comments on Boniface Mwangi Arrest
Kasmuel McOure, has been at the forefront of the anti-government protests, stated that Mwangi had been arrested while Wanjira Wanjiru has been hurt by the police.
“Could someone please confirm that Hanifa Farsafi, Shakira Wafula and Hussein are safe? The police have hurt Wanjira Wanjiru and taken Boniface Mwangi,” Kasmuel wrote on X.
In a post on X on July 24, Mwangi posted that names of 60 people who he alleged were murdered During GenZ Protests as of July 22nd, 2024.
The youth planned to mourn the protesters killed during the past anti-government demos by carrying flowers, photos of the heroes, and the national flag and march to President’s office.
“On 25th July 2024, to mark one month since 25th June 2024, family members of the fallen heroes, and Kenyans of goodwill, will present a petition to the office of the president, at Harambee House to demand justice for our heroes, and then proceed to Parliament to lay flowers,” read part of the poster.

Gen Zs Reject Ruto’s Nominees
The Gen Zs rejected the individuals nominated by President William Ruto to serve as Cabinet Secretaries (CSs).
Ina statement, the Gen Z said being a CS is an important job and requires competent leaders who can advise the president on how to drive the nation’s agenda.
The statement stated that Gen Zs have been protesting and calling on the government to address varius issues that will lead the nation to the greatness that every Kenyan want.
“Has the president listened? No. He has even gone further in what we can term as an insult to the Kenyan people and nominated the exact same people we refused,” the statement reads in part.

Gen Zs maintained that the nominated CSs are not fit to hold the positions and their nominations are against the Constitution.
The youth rejected the nominees quoting Chapter One of the Constitution which says, “all sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya and shall be exercised only in accordance with the constitution.
“We the people of Kenya reject the nomination of all the nominees,” read another part of the statement.
