Comedian Vincent Muasya Mutua, popularly known as Chipukeezy, has been appointed to the Executive Office of the President.
The Head of Presidential Special Projects & Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, announced on Wednesday, March 26, while congratulating Chipukeezy on his appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events.

Itumbi stated that the comedian’s appointment was well-deserved, citing his contributions to the creative economy, and wished him success in his new role.
“Congratulations, @Chipukeezyvini, on your appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President! said Itumbi.

“Habakkuk 2:3. May you serve with unwavering focus and passion as we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy.”
Chipukeezy has been a close associate of the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration and has served as a Master of Ceremonies (MC) at some of President Ruto’s events.

His appointment comes months after he announced that his show, The Chipukeezy Show, would stop airing on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

End of Chipukeezy Show at KBC
In a statement on Sunday, April 14, 2024, the comedian, through Ufalme Entertainment, revealed that the show had been struggling with significant payment delays from the government broadcaster since November 2023.
Ufalme Entertainment, the production company behind the television show, noted that this was despite their concerted efforts to honor commitments to all stakeholders involved in the production.
The production company’s director, Michael Muthama, further expressed regret over the ongoing delays and their impact on various stakeholders.
“As a production company dedicated to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity, we understand the impact that these delays can have on our valued partners, suppliers, and artists. We want to assure you that we are actively engaging with KBC to resolve this matter swiftly and fairly,” he said.

KBC became the new host of The Chipukeezy Show, marking its return after a three-year hiatus.
The show premiered on September 11, 2023, with episodes airing every Monday from 8 PM to 9 PM.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by the corporation’s acting Managing Director, Samuel Maina.
At the time, Chipukeezy stated that the show’s objective was to market, grow, and monetize young talent in Kenya.
He also mentioned that the initial episodes would be recorded in various locations across Nairobi, with plans to expand production nationwide in the future.
The comedian was previously appointed by the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta to the National Authority for the Campaign Against alcohol Drug Abuse (NACADA) board.
