Starting July 1, 2024, Kenyans and residents of Kenya are required to register for the newly launched Social Health Insurance (SHIF), as announced by Cabinet Secretary for Health Nakhumicha S. Wafula.
The Cabinet Secretary assured all Kenyans, especially those currently benefiting from NHIF services, that there will be no disruption of services during this transition phase.
Health facilities are urged to continue providing services, with all claims expected to be verified and settled as usual.
Additionally, CS Wafula confirmed that the Social Health Authority Board has received a list of empaneled facilities from regulatory bodies, which will aid in initiating contracts for service delivery.
“This step ensures that healthcare providers and facilities are prepared for the transition,” CS Wafula stated.
