President William Ruto has appointed former Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi as Chancellor of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
In a gazette notice published on Friday, October 27, Ruto assigned Karangi to the role for a period of five years.
His appointment came months after Ruto appointed him as the chairperson of the National Council for Population and Development Board in December 2022.
Karangi has long standing reputation due to his service in the military especially having led the historic Operation Linda Nchi in Somalia.
Under his stewardship, the Kenya Defence Forces captured Kismayo from the then dreaded Al Shabab fighters to entrench his name deep in Kenya’s combat history.
In addition to his stint at the Population board, Karangi also served as the Chairman of Kenya Airports Authority and the chairperson of National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Board after retiring from the KDF.
