The family of the late Julius Mwangi Irungu, father to Jowie have narrated last moments and days with him before he succumbed to cancer.
Jane Irungu, Jowie’s sister, revealed her last interaction with their father noting that he often cried over his son’s conviction and deeply longed to see him released from prison.
According to Jane, Julius wished to see Jowie Irungu and had persistently asked to be taken to the prison to visit his son, a wish that could not be fulfilled as his health deteriorated.
She added that while on his deathbed, Julius claimed to have had visions of Jowie being released.
“He told us he had seen media reports about his son’s release. He insisted on being taken to the prison, and we had arranged the visit before his condition deteriorated and he later passed away,” Jane said.
