Religious leaders have been asked to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) every sabbath day. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has urged the clergy to encourage believers to register for the SHA every Sunday.
Speaking during interdenominational prayers in Bungoma, Wetangula encouraged Kenyans to enrol for SHA as advised by their leaders.
He emphasized that the registration process is free and noted that the funds collected are vital for the development of hospitals.
“Register to be a member of SHA and be part of the Taifa Care is free. You will not be required to pay anything.”
“I want to ask the bishops to ensure there is somebody registering people here every Sunday before they enter Church. If you register, the money that will be sent here to the hospitals is what will be used to pay the doctors and be used to buy equipment. So, let’s register.”
Ruto to Rollout UHC
President William Ruto announced that the government will roll out Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He stated that the system will ensure all Kenyans, including the unemployed, have access to healthcare.
Ruto emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to fulfilling this promise, which the NARC and Jubilee governments failed to deliver.
“I want to assure you that this administration is making UHC a reality for all Kenyans,” he said.
