Standard Group (SG) and KTN senior education news reporter Shadrack Mitty has been confirmed dead.
A colleague told The Kenya Times that Shadrack Mitty died at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH).
Preliminary reports indicate that he died of heart related complications.
The colleague further revealed that Shadrack had battled a blood condition for some time.

Standard Confirms Shadrack Mitty Death
The SG has confirmed that the journalist died while undergoing treatment at a Kiambu based hospital.
“Standard Group journalist Shadrack Mitty dies while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kiambu; he was a seasoned reporter on the education beat,” reads a poster by KTN News.
ODM Director Mourns Mitty
ODM Communication Director Philip Etale mourned Shadrack as a dedicated journalist who loved his job.
In a statement on X, Etale said Shadrack was committed to asking questions to understand a story before publishing or broadcasting it to the audience.
“Waking up to the sad news of the passing on of my friend and colleague in journalism Shadrack Mitty. This was one journalist who loved his job. He was dedicated and never shied from asking as many questions as possible to understand the story for informed dissemination to the masses. The media industry has lost a good man,” Etale said.
Samson Jura, a digital journalist at Cape Media Limited mourned the journalist saying, “The journalism fraternity is mourning the passing of Shadrack Mitty.”

Journalists Condolences
Former NTV Kenya senior Political affairs reporter Kennedy Murithi Bundi described Mitty as true friend and dedicated bilingual journalist.
Murithi mourned the journalist, stating that he is now reflecting on a phone call conversation they had on May 10.
“I am gutted and lost. I have woken to the sad news on the passing on of my great friend and colleague in the journalism field Shadrack Mitty. A fine multi- lingual journalist whom we started with at QTV before he transitioned to KTN. I write go well brother, but this one has hit me hard. Our phone call of 10th May is now replaying in my mind. Rest ndugu, rest,” he wrote.
Senior Political Reporter at TV Magharibi Emmanuel Kilong’I said Shadrack’s death is a big lose to the media fraternity especially the education sector.
“I guess, this is the meaning of a saying that, “Life is short,” death has robbed journalists their very own Shadrack Mitty. May the good Lord grant you eternal life my senior, friend and a brother Shadrack Mitty,” he said.

Mitty Journalism Career
Shadrack is a former reporter at Nation Media Group (NMG) having served at Qtv between September 17, 2012 – June 30, 2016·
He also worked as a journalist at Kenya News Agency (KNA) from June 2008 to September 2010.
Shadrack studied Film and Video Production at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
