Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has once again been ranked as the best performing CS in President William Ruto’s government.
In poll results released on Wednesday, December 13, TIFA reported that Kindiki topped the list with 65% followed closely by Foreign Affairs CS and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi with 62%.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu came in third with 58% while Health CS Susan Nakhumicha scored 57% at position four.
To cap the top five best performing CSs, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen scored 57% to come in at fifth position.
According to TIFA, the parameters used in the polls included trust level, awareness, visibility, transparency and commitment.
In the results, TIFA indicated that Mudavadi was the most trusted CS with a score of 70%, followed by CS Kindiki who scored 68%.
In terms of awareness, Kindiki beat his colleagues with a score of 83%, followed closely by CS Machogu who scored 80%.
Murkomen, Kindiki among most traveled CSs
The five CSs, the report added, also beat their colleagues in the number of visits made to counties and hence the trust and visibility.
For instance, Kidiki had visited 41 counties, while Mudavadi visited 23 counties and Machogu 20.
CS Nakhumicha had visited 20 counties, according to the report, while Murkomen toured 19 counties.
Also captured in the report was the overall performance of the Kenya Kwanza government.
As per the findings, the main challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza Government include inflation and cost of living, corruption, debt repayment and pressure from the opposition.
Since rising to power, President Ruto’s government has excelled in matters of forest protection, supporting agriculture, and encouraging investments and tourists from abroad.
However, the report indicated that Kenya Kwanza performed below bar in matters of reducing debt reliance, creating jobs, reducing inflation, and ending corruption.

In addition, the report captured the views shared by Kenyans across different counties regarding the economic situation facing Kenya.
Kenyans share thoughts on economic progress
As per the survey, 84% of Kenyans interviewed said that the economy was getting worse while 8% said that they had not seen any difference in Ruto’s tenure.
At the same time, 7% of the respondents said that the economy was getting better.
Further in terms of coping mechanisms in light of the economy, TIFA reported that 87% of Kenyans have reduced personal expenditure due to the cost of living.

The main categories where Kenyans reduced expenditure due to high cost of living include transport, clothing, and entertainment.
TIFA‘s poll came even as President Ruto continued to affirm his conviction that the country was headed to the right direction.
In his recent speeches, Ruto affirmed that his government had managed to avert the risk facing debt distress and that signs indicated that the economy was out of its deathbed.
