A pastor in Kirinyaga County left a funeral service after he denied politicians who attended the funeral a chance to speak.
Members of Parliament allied to Gachagua forcefully took the microphone away from him. In his defense, he stated that a funeral service is for mourners and not a political rally.

However, the angry mourners insisted that he should allow the politicians to speak.
“Allow them to speak, they must speak,” the angry crowd shouted.

Murango James Kamau the senator for Kirinyanga County, and Woman Representative Kirinyanga County Njeri Maina were among political leaders who were at the funeral service. The local political leaders were seen forcefully taking the stage while the pastor was still speaking.
This led to a confrontation between the pastor and the politicians’ supporters that caused an uproar stopping the continuation of the funeral service. The situation escalated forcing the pastor to flee the scene.

Pastor Speaks on the Incident
“It’s a burial ceremony and not a political rally. They were invited to condole with the family alone,” he said.
Further the man of God stated that the politicians were there to settle a score against the government instead of mourning with the bereaved.
However, the angry crowd kept jeering against him, asking him to go home because his work of preaching was done.
Public Allegations Against Him
Additionally, they claimed that the pastor was government affiliated that is way he did not allow politicians allied to the former Deputy President Gachagua to speak at the gathering.

He defended himself against the allegations citing that before he attended the burial service, he had a cordial meeting with the area Member of Parliament (MP) and that they have a good relationship.
“I am not on the government side; I was here to preach the gospel,” he said.

A case of Hired Goons
“How can we continue with the programme while people are shouting at time including the politicians,” he continued.
According to the pastor, the local leaders had hired goons who caused the commotion during the funeral service.
The man of God left the scene driving off with his black car while crowds mocked him.
