President William Ruto has celebrated and praised former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
While speaking during the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations, Ruto described Uhuru and Raila as patriots who have displayed outstanding leadership including resolving the inclusivity issue.
He went on to mention that broad-based government has accelerated and expedited the implementation of radical programmes to address the nation’s burdens.
“I am grateful to distinguished patriots who have demonstrated outstanding leadership across the political aisle for the spirit of goodwill in which we have engaged to address critical national issues, including resolving the inclusivity challenge by formulating a broad-based government,” said Ruto.

Ruto also stated that he readily concedes that Kenya has yet to reach the destination of its aspirations, as the country has not fully delivered on all its commitments.
However, he emphasized that it is also a fact that the nation is no longer where it was a year ago, let alone two years ago.
“We have moved beyond pledges and commitments and are now making progress with our implementation strategies,” he affirmed.

The President asserted that we must do all we can to maintain the essential character of our Republic as an open and free democratic society.
This means ensuring that our political competition and rivalry never devolve into a contest that assaults democracy, opposes development, or demoralizes the people.
“We must remember that whatever else sets us apart, we are united by a desire to achieve the best for Kenya and its people,” he said
“I will continue to reach out to Kenyans of all walks of life regardless of their ideological persuasion, to maximise the crosspollination of the flower of our Republic and guarantee robust seeds for future seasons.”
This comes three days after President William Ruto met with former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Gatundu home, where the two discussed matters of national interest.
