Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga has recounted the last moments she spent with her father before his death.
Winnie revealed that her father died in her arms, and not what has been reported by various people on social media.
“Fellow mourners, I was with him in India when he took his last breath. He died in my arms, but he did not die like people have been saying on social media,” Winnie Oding said.
Winnie Pays Tribute to Raila Odinga
While paying tribute at the State Funeral at Nyayo Stadium, Winnie stated that Raila would exercise to keep himself fit during his stay in India.
“Every day, he was waking up and walking; that morning pushed up to 5 rounds. He died strong with dignity and pride, and you must be proud of that. He left as a gentleman,” said Winnie Odinga.

Winnie further added that she will miss her father and the memorable moments they spent together.
“I don’t know who I will miss more, my dad or my superhero. To the world, you were known by many names: Aluo, Jaramogi’s son, Tinga, Agwambo, Nyundo, Jakom, Baba Fidel, but in the end, they called you Baba. To me, you were simply Dad. I’m the luckiest girl in the world,” said Winnie.
At the same time, Winnie Odinga spoke passionately about the legacy of the former Prime Minister.
Ida Odinga Eulogizes her Husband
Winnie stated that her father will be remembered for pursuing justice and making personal sacrifice to put the interest of the nation first.
“To my fellow mourners, I learned from him the love for country is not just in words but in sacrifice that justice must be pursued even when the path is lonely. The true leadership is not service but not power, ” Winnie added.

Winnie further stated even though her father is dead his legacy will forever live on.
“The King is dead but long live the crown,” Winnie stated.
On the other hand, wife to the former Prime Minister Ida Odinga eulogized her husband as a person who hated greed and those who stole public funds.
“Raila hated greed. The greed that leads to the looting of public coffers,” Ida said.
She also eulogized her late husband as a person who loved forgiveness and did not held grudges with those who wronged him.
