Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has spoken on his relationship with President William Ruto days after impeachment and Kithure Kindiki swearing-in.
Gachagua while attending a funeral service on Saturday November 2 in Kirinyaga stated that he has no issues with the Head of State.
He added that he will leave the President and new Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to work for the remaining three years.
“We don’t have any problem with the President. We want to give the President space to fulfill his promises to Kenyans in the next three years and come back to us,” he said.
“Everyone should be given time to finish his work. There is no storm without an end.”
“We had many promises, and I am proud to say that, regarding the coffee sector, the president assigned me a significant task. We accomplished a lot by implementing reforms and introducing the coffee bill 2023 is in the parliament.”

Gachagua Issues Demands to MPs
He further urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to use same energy they used in his impeachment motions to pass bills including the coffee bill.
“Speak to the MPs and remind them that the same speed they used to impeach me should be applied to passing the bill at night and publishing it in the Kenya Gazette. Then, take it to President William Ruto in the morning for his stamp,” he added.
“Removing me was very quick, but this coffee bill has been pending for a year. Now we want to ask our MPs from here in Mt. Kenya: the same speed and efficiency you displayed in the National Assembly to impeach Rigathi Gachagua, use that same speed to pass the coffee bill so it can become law.”

He also asked the lawmakers to increase the amount of money allocated to cater for coffee debts from Ksh5 million to Ksh 7 million.

Former DP Thanks Loyal Lawmakers
At the same time, he thanked loyal MPs and asked locals to consider them for bigger positions.
The ousted DP mentioned that people can attack him, but they should leave some of the work he has done such as empowering the boychild and fighting illicit brew.
“You may push Gachagua around but let the work that his has done for two years to empower the boy child remain,” he said.
“I worked hard to eradicate illicit brew, but since they started bothering me, it has returned. Those in government, chiefs, and sub-chiefs should not allow this brew to come back and harm our people.”
