One person has been reported dead after a car carrier trailer overturned at a sharp bend along the Mai Mahiu escarpment on the Maai Mahiu-Limuru Road.
It is reported that the transit trailer experienced brake failure, causing it to veer off the road and overturn, landing in a ditch.
In images and videos seen by The Kenya Times the car carrier trailer is seen overturned off the road, having veered off into the Mai Mahiu escarpment.
Several vehicles it was transporting were scattered around the crash site, with some appearing damaged.
While some cars seen damaged, others could be seen unscathed.
Trailer Overturns at Mai Mahiu
The footage also captured locals from the surrounding area as first responders arrived to assist the injured.
The accident occurred at a sharp C corner, as shown by the road and trucks visible in the background.
“A trailer used for transporting vehicles has crashed at C corner along Mai Mahiu Road. Confirm if your car was there,” said Sikika Road Safety group.

However, at the time of publishing no casualties had been reported.
Police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to facilitate further investigations. The trailer was subsequently pulled from the valley and towed to the nearest police post.
The early morning accident caused a significant traffic jam along the busy road, prompting a traffic marshal to intervene and direct vehicles.
The trailer had carried a high-end vehicles.
Earlier Accidents at the Same Scene
The accident comes barely a month after several passengers were feared dead after an accident involving a truck ferrying LPG and several matatus.
The lorry lost control and collided with three vehicles at the Mai Mahiu escarpment.
According to preliminary reports, several casualties were trapped below a 14-seater matatu that overturned after the accident.

The matatu was knocked over from behind by the truck and rolled down the escarpment.
