Equity Bank Kenya has announced a service downtime affecting select services due to a planned system maintenance.
The bank, in an update on Friday, July 18, notified customers that Equity Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) will be unavailable for ten hours due to the planned system maintenance.
The CDMs will be unavailable on Sunday, July 20, from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am on Monday, July 21.
An Equity CDM is a self-service Automated Teller Machine (ATM) that allows customers to deposit cash directly into their account. They are convenient and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
CDMs, which are found in ATM lobbies, are a popular way of transacting among customers, especially those seeking quick and flexible deposit services without the need to queue inside banking halls.
Equity Cash Deposit Machines
The customer deposits money in an enclosed secure cubicle found within ATM lobbies, which are also under 24/7 dedicated camera surveillance. Money deposited immediately reflects in the bank account.
“Dear member, due to a planned system maintenance, Equity Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) will be unavailable on Sunday, 20/7/25 from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am on Monday, 21/7/25. We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Equity Bank.
“Please remember, Equity calls you from only ONE number 0763 000 000. DO NOT engage with anyone asking for your personal banking details. Equity will never ask for your bank details, PIN, Password, OTP or Card information on phone or SMS.”
CDMs allow cash deposits to an Equity Bank account only and customers can deposit up to a maximum of Ksh2 million per account per day.

However, upon reaching a lump sum amount of Ksh1 million, the system prompts the customer to fill in a declaration form as required by law. A lien is then placed on the account until the customer provides the necessary documentation to their branch.
The minimum deposit limit, on the other hand, is Ksh50, and cash deposit through an Equity CDM to an Equity Bank account is free of charge.
In addition, customers can deposit money into another person’s Equity account, provided they have a valid account number and account name.
Cash deposited via CDM reflects in the account immediately as customers receive a deposit slip after completing a transaction.
By default, they should also receive an SMS notification on their phone. If no SMS is received, the customer should visit the branch to register for the service.
Service downtime on digital banking channels
The scheduled maintenance comes a week after Equity Bank confirmed a service downtime affecting its digital banking channels.

In a notice to customers on Friday, July 11, the bank said that the technical team was working to resolve the issue.
“We are experiencing an intermittent service downtime on our digital banking channels. Our technical team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience during this time,” read part of the notice.
Equity Bank operates several digital platforms, including Equity Mobile App, Equity Online Banking Portal, USSD Banking (247#) and EazzyBiz.
