The company announced on November 6, 2025, that the Board of Directors lifted its suspension, restoring him to his executive position.
“The Board has lifted the suspension of Dr. Hillary M. Wachinga and restored him to his position as the Managing Director of the Corporation with effect from 6th November 2025,” read part of the announcement.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance and protecting the interests of all shareholders and stakeholders.

The Corporation also expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued trust and support during the period of leadership uncertainty.
Kenya Re Suspends Hillary Wachinga
In September, Wachinga had been suspended for 21 days as the Board reviewed what it described as “internal matters.”
At the time, Kenya Re stated that the suspension was necessary to allow for a thorough and impartial assessment of preliminary concerns.
In a press release, Company Secretary Charles Kariuki stated that the suspension is a precautionary measure while investigators investigate the matters at hand.
This move follows a series of allegations against Wachinga, which have been documented in a confidential complaint submitted to multiple oversight bodies, including the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
