Millions of shillings worth of goods destined for South Sudan face auction by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) if not cleared within 30 days.
The cargo, currently held at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Nairobi, includes essential construction materials, electrical components, food items, and consumer goods important for South Sudan’s businessmen.

According to a notice issued on March 17, under Section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 (EACCMA 2004), the goods will be declared abandoned and disposed of through a public auction.
Moreover, the auction is scheduled for May 5 to May 9, 2025.

Further, the notice issued under the East African Community Customs Management Act (EACCMA) detailed that the unclaimed goods will be auctioned online via KRA’s iBid portal.
Interested buyers may view the cargo at specified locations on April 30 and May 2, 2025.

Details of the South Sudan Goods Scheduled for Auction by KRA
The shipments, which include various consignments under multiple lot numbers, were imported using different vessels but have remained uncleared.
The public notice lists South Sudan as the country of destination for millions worth of goods.
Among the shipments at risk of being sold are:
Construction & Infrastructure Materials
These include 1,549 packages of automotive lubricants, grease, and packaging materials.
Greater Pioneer Operating Company has multiple shipments of API Class “G” Oil Well Cement (Other Hydraulic Cements), crucial for oil and gas drilling operations.
Dar Petroleum Operating Company has 453 packages of prefabricated houses (greenhouses, cold rooms) meant for construction projects.
GSB Solar Middle East Jubs has 460 packages of wood chips for particle board and non-concrete structures.
Softcare Kenya Company Limited has 264 kgs of non-woven fabrics used in making medical and hygiene products.
Rafale General Trading Company has 1,268 kgs of black wire rubber granules.

Consumer Goods and Food Products
Cigarettes. Afrah Tobacco Cigarettes Factory has two separate shipments of 1,915 packages of cigarettes each, pending clearance.
Sugar. Narus General Trading Company Limited has multiple consignments of 540 bags of Brazilian brown sugar, packed in 50 kg bags.
Tableware and Kitchenware. A shipment of 2,622 packages of tableware and kitchenware, including plastic utensils, is awaiting clearance under Ayuet General Trading Company Limited.
Electrical & Lighting Equipment
Teang For Trading Investment Limited has a shipment of 110 microphones, printers, electronic devices, and mixed electrical items.
the list also includes 165 packages of LED lamps from MJS Royal Commercial Limited.
8 packages of electrical apparatus for switching/protecting circuits, meant for Greater Pioneer Operating Company.
Second-Hand Clothing
349 packages of used clothing imported by Bessa Showroom for Trading and Investment are also on the list.
Religious and Nutritional Supplies
New Life Ministry has 40 packages of protein concentrates (Mama Pack Mix) among the items held by KRA.
Importers and business owners are urged to settle their taxes and necessary documentation to avoid financial losses.
