Ministry of Interior Announces Auction of Vehicles With Reserve Price From Ksh 5,000

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration, through the National Police Service and the General Service Unit (GSU), has announced a public auction for boarded motor vehicles with bids starting from Ksh 5000.

According to the Interior notice, the auction will be conducted in partnership with Whitestone and Company Auctioneers on an “as-is-where-is” basis.

The public auction is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 at the GSU headquarters in Ruaraka along Thika Road, Nairobi, starting at 10:00 a.m.

“The National Police Service through the General Service Unit (GSU) in conjunction with the appointed registered auctioneer M/s Whitestone and Company Auctioneers of P.O. Box 79157-00400, Nairobi hereby invite interested bidders for the sale of boarded motor vehicles and used store items by public auction on “as-is-where-is” basis. The Public Auction will take place on Wednesday 10th June, 2026 at the General Service Unit (GSU) headquarters, Ruaraka along Thika Road, Nairobi starting at 10:00am,” the Interior stated.

The Interior Ministry further stated that viewing of the vehicles and items will run from 26 May 2026 to 9 June 2026 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.

Among the vehicles listed for auction by the Ministry Of Interior are Toyota Land Cruisers, Land Rover models, buses, vans, and trucks, with some reserve prices starting from as low as KSh5,000.

How to Bid

According to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, interested bidders will be allowed to inspect the vehicles and used store items from 26 May 2026 to 9 June 2026 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays, at the listed locations.

The ministry stated that bidders participating in the motor vehicle auction will be required to pay a refundable deposit of KSh50,000 to obtain a bidding number from the appointed auctioneer, while those bidding for other store items will pay a refundable deposit of Ksh2,000.

The auction will be conducted on an “as-is-where-is” basis, and bids below the listed reserve prices will not be accepted.

Under the auction terms, successful bidders will be required to pay 25 per cent of the purchase price immediately after winning the bid and clear the remaining balance within seven days. Failure to complete payment within the timeline will result in forfeiture of the deposit and the item may be offered to the second highest bidder.

The ministry also stated that buyers must collect purchased items within 14 days after payment, failing which a storage fee of KSh1,000 per day will apply.
