First daughter Charlene Ruto has positioned Kenya on the global stage, representing the country at the Earthna Summit 2025 in Doha, Qatar.
The event was a high-level international forum focused on climate action, sustainability, and inclusive development.
Held under the Qatar Foundation and hosted by the Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future, the summit brought together a diverse mix of global stakeholders.
These included civil society and the private sector to academia and youth climate leaders who are all driven by a shared urgency to tackle the climate crisis.

Charlene Ruto’s Speech at the Event
Charlene Ruto who attended as the patron of SMACHS (Smart Mechanized Agriculture & Climate Action for Humanity & Sustainability), delivered a powerful message on how traditional knowledge and local innovations can fuel sustainable development.
Further, she highlighted the transformative role of beekeeping in arid regions in Kenya, rooted in indigenous practices that support food security, income generation, and ecosystem restoration.
“Through SMACHS, we shared how beekeeping in arid regions, rooted in indigenous knowledge, is transforming lives through food security, income generation, and environmental restoration.
“I am inspired by the commitment and creativity of the people of Qatar, and I am excited to deepen cross-border youth collaboration, innovation exchange, and grassroots action,” stated the first daughter in her recap of the event.

About Earthna Summit 2025
The second edition of the Earthna Summit under the theme “Building our Legacy: Sustainability, Innovation and Traditional Knowledge” highlighted Qatar’s commitment to advancing sustainability in hot and arid environments.
The summit aimed to do this by drawing on its rich cultural heritage and unique ecosystems.
It featured talks from experts and professionals an expert track for professionals at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Bin Jelmood Museum.
Additionally, the Earthna Village in Barahat Msheireb hosted a community-driven exhibition space with engaging activations for all ages and a series of inspiring talks and discussions led by various experts and innovators.
