A fire incident flattened dozens of structures, leaving residents of Mukuru Slums in Nairobi homeless. The fire also claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy.
The boy identified as Ray Nyamweya was alone in the house when the fire broke out on the fateful morning. Moreover, his remains were discovered long after the fire had been contained.
Nairobi police said they are investigating the tragedy. Nonetheless, fire incidents are said to be on the rise in the area and other informal settlements leaving many homeless and with injuries.
Elsewhere in Dandora, a four-year-old boy fell from the third floor of a residential house in Mowlem area and died on the spot.
The deceased identified as Dominic Kimaro was playing on the balcony of the house when he slid and fell off landing on his head.
It is reported that the child was home alone with his ten-year-old sister when the incident happened.
Nevertheless, police who were called to the scene moved the child’s body to the mortuary.
Furthermore, Nairobi police boss James Mugera reported that his police officers are investigating both tragedies.
