A garbage truck driver identified by colleagues as Maina was shot six times and killed on Thursday, June 23 night.
The driver was murdered along Thika Road as he waited for his truck to be filled with litter.

Moreover, the deceased was driving a lorry contracted by the Kenya National Highway Authority to collect litter on Thika Highway when the gruesome incident occurred at around 10 pm.
According to police and witnesses, the perpetrator who was armed with an AK47 rifle shot Maina at least six times.

In addition, the victim is said to have parked the lorry at the Utalii Tunnel when a salon car pulled behind his truck. The gun man then allegedly stepped out of the car, walked towards Maina and shot him six times before running back to the car and driving off.

Nonetheless, the other men who were loading the garbage truck with litter came out unharmed in the attack.
Furthermore, police officers who visited the crime scene found six spent cartridges and interrogated the other attendants who reported that they had picked garbage from the city center and were headed towards Kasarani direction before the incident happened.
The witnesses further added that the saloon car had trailed them from the city center.
Likewise, Starehe police boss William Sirengo stated that they are yet to find out the motive of the attack. Adding that, it seems the gunman’s intention was to eliminate the deceased.
