A Lamu court found two men identified as Goris and Ziro guilty of gang defilement. The two who attacked and raped a young girl are set to be sentenced on Thursday, October 20.
The 16-year-old girl from Kashmir village in Lamu island was attacked on her way to school on May 30 by three men who gang-raped her.
The minor told the Lamu court that she recognized two of her attackers as Said Mzee Bunu alias Ziro and Abdulrahman Hassan Dara alias Goris. However, she did not recognize the third man.
The 16-year-old had known Goris as someone from her village and had met him many times as he always passed by her house.
She also stated that she knew Ziro from her village as he was a regular visitor to her father’s place.
The victim reported that Goris jumped on her and covered her mouth before Ziro lunged on her and injected her in the neck with an unknown substance using a syringe.
A few moments later, she lost consciousness.
Furthermore, the girl told Lamu Principal Magistrate Temba Sitati that she regained consciousness in a hospital bed and discovered that she had been defiled and dumped at Shella beach.
The girl’s father also told the court that he returned home from work at around 5 pm and expected his daughter to show up from school but she did not.
