Former Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso has been appointed as the Director-General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.
According to a Gazette Notice dated April 12, 2023, President William Ruto appointed Shioso has been appointed to the position for a period of four years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 17 (1) of the Kenya Coast Guard Service Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint— BRUNO ISOHI SHIOSO to be the Director-General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service, for a period of four (4) years, with effect from the 12th April 2023,” reads the Gazette Notice.
Shioso has been serving as the Commandant of the National Police College Main Campus Kiganjo, since November 2022 when he took over from Japhet Koome.

He previously served at the UN headquarters in New York as a Transnational Organized Crime Expert.
Shioso also served as the deputy director at the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit (BFIU) and as a longtime personal assistant to former Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro.
The Kenya Coast Guard Service is responsible for enforcing maritime security, patrolling Kenya’s territorial waters, preventing unlawful fishing, piracy, human and drug trafficking, smuggling and prevention of environmental damage.
