Kenyan radio presenter and media personality Ciku Muiruri has spoken out after an alleged assault with a crowbar at her family’s property in Thika, Kiambu County.
According to Muiruri, the incident stemmed from a longstanding land dispute involving Floriculture Ltd.
In a statement dated October 21, Muiruri accused the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer (DCIO) in Thika of failing to act on court orders for nine days.
According to the media personality, the man she identified as her attacker was still moving freely on the property, with no arrest made at the time of the statement.
“We must always pray for our enemies. Special prayers for OCPD and DCIO Thika, who have blatantly ignored court orders for one and a half weeks. Nine days. Jesus, I trust in You. Meanwhile, the man who attacked me is roaming the property freely; no arrests have been made. Is this a banana Republic?” Ciku’s statement read.
Ciku Muiruri Recounts Attack
In a subsequent livestream, the former radio presenter described an alleged break-in involving a large group of men, the loss of personal belongings and an assault that she says left injuries around her eye and head.
Recalling the incident, Ciku explained that a group of 100 men broke into her house.
However, Ciku clarified that her younger brother lives on the property with his children, but she was alone in the house during the incident.
Ciku handed over her laptop, phone and the cash she had with her during the confrontation.
Despite giving up all her belongings, she claimed that some of the attackers tried to remove her clothes, leaving her afraid she was about to be sexually assaulted.
During the ordeal, Muiruri focused on a Divine Mercy image in her room and repeatedly prayed, saying “Jesus, I trust in you.”
She described one man grabbing her upper arm and pulling her outside, where a police officer was present but told her to leave because officers were overwhelmed and waiting for backup.
However, Muiruri insisted on getting her car keys and later returned to the house with the officer to look for them.
After failing to find them, she claimed the officer left her, after which one of the attackers took a crowbar and struck her several times on the head, including around her eye.
Muiruri said she had identified the man she believed attacked her and obtained a P3 form.

Long-running dispute over family property
The alleged assault is linked, according to Muiruri, to a land dispute that has lasted between 30 and 40 years.
“This whole process, from the time it started up to today, it’s taken maybe 30 or 40 years. We have seen way worse formidable opponents than Yusuf Ali and whoever the sidekick of his is,” Ciku Muiruri stated.
She described the farm as her family home, noting that her father and grandmother are buried there and that she spent much of her life on the property.
Muiruri maintains that the dispute concerns competing claims over the land and proceedings seeking to remove her from it.
The land in question has also been the subject of proceedings before the Business Premises Rent Tribunal, applications before different magistrates, and court orders.
According to Muiruri, the tribunal chairperson directed that related matters be consolidated, maintaining that a ruling and a stay order were served on police leadership in Thika, but that the orders were not enforced.
Daughter’s 2023 Abduction
Before the recent attack, Ciku Muiruri also encountered an ordeal in June 2023 after her daughter and her friend were abducted in Nairobi.
The two women asked for a ride after attending a gathering, but they were allegedly taken from their intended destination.
They were rescued after eight days, and authorities arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the driver threatened them with a hammer before driving towards Thika.
During the ordeal, Muiruri appealed publicly for prayers for their safe return. She also said she was praying for those responsible.
