An ex-convict identified as Steve Omondi was killed by a mob in Kaditonge village, Homa Bay County.
The incident began on Sunday May 26, night when deceased allegedly invaded a homestead, assaulting a lady and her mother in an attempted robbery.
According to Jacob Adienge, the chief of Kachien North Location, the man sneaked into the homestead where he attacked the lady as she went to attend to a short call.
The chief explained that the man’s intention was to steal a mobile phone from the lady, but the lady raised an alarm, attracting her mother and a neighbor who intervened to stop the attack.
In the ensuing chaos, he assaulted the lady, and he reportedly bit the mother’s finger before fleeing into the darkness.
Mob Corners the suspect
Following the attack, members of the public tracked him down the next day and brutally beat him.

Despite being rescued by police officers and taken to Rachuonyo South Sub County hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His body was moved to the hospital morgue pending further investigation.
Extrajudicial Killings in Homa Bay
In a similar incident in Homa Bay, a suspected thief was brutally beaten to death by a KDF officer and two other men in Sino village, Rachuonyo South Sub County.
The v30-year-old victim was reportedly lured from his home on April 7 and led to a nearby thicket where he was beaten to death.
The perpetrators of the brutal killing filmed themselves as they were assaulting him, and the video quickly went viral on social media platforms.

The video seen by The Kenya Times, shows the man lying on the dirt blindfolded as two men assault him for allegedly stealing.
One man is seen with his foot on his neck and face while the other whips him.
The men are then heard asking the man to name the people he steals with.
