Content creator Bena Wa Malines’ TikTok account which had over 900,000 followers has been hacked.
The creator took to his Instagram account posting a screenshot of the account whose name had already been changed.
“Someone hacked my TikTok account. Beware of scammers texting you with my account,” stated BenaWa Malines.
The creator, whose real name is Bernard Kamulu, is known for his funny skits in Kamba accent. His account has grown over time and has amassed 16.7 million likes.
Bena Wa Malines became famous in 2022 through his famous tagline ‘Pulaia maisha’ which translates to ‘enjoy life’. He began his content creation journey while he was a student of Journalism at Mount Kenya University.

His significant following has grown over time and has earned him brand endorsements with firms including Betika and Startimes.
This comes a few months after another creator lost his account to hackers. In 2024, Digital Creator and influencer Kevin Maina popularly known as Mainamind lost his account with over half a million followers on TikTok.
Mainamind’s TikTok account hacked
Speaking in an interview, Kelvin narrated how his account was hacked.
“There’s an email which I got which looked like it was from TikTok, design and all, but it was a fake. The email, designed to appear as a legitimate communication from TikTok, urged me to verify my account,” he narrated.
The message stated that his account was under threat and promised a blue verification badge as an added incentive for immediate action.
He was then sent a link that redirected him to a website that looked similar to TikTok where he tried to log into his account. Upon entering his details on the false site, he was logged out of his original account.
Hackers demand for money
Content creators have been the target of hackers which is highly attributed to their huge following and for monetary gains.
Kelvin stated that when he tried to retrieve his account, the hackers told him that he had to pay to get his account back. He asked content creators with a huge following to be on the lookout.

Content creator Nicholas Kioko and his partner Ashley Wambo also announced that their account had been hacked in September 2024.
The couple that had been creating content around their lifestyle stated that they had noticed suspicious activity on their YouTube channel which had over 500,000 subscribers.
“I regret to inform you that my official YouTube channel, Wambo Ashley, has been compromised. Unauthorized individuals have gained access, and any content posted recently does not reflect my work or views. I am working with YouTube to resolve this issue and restore the channel,” stated the couple.
