DARREN JASON WATKINS JR. (ISHOWSPEEED)

NAME  Darren Jason Watkins Jr.
AGE  21 YEARS
GENDER  MALE
OCCUPATION STREAMER

IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., was born on January 21, 2005, and is a globally famous American YouTuber, live streamer, and rapper known for his high-energy, chaotic, and often unpredictable personality.

In January 2026, IShowSpeed embarked on an ambitious 28-day tour, running from December 29, 2025, to January 26, 2026, covering 20 African countries. This tour solidified his status as a cultural ambassador through high-stakes global tours and marked a career-defining milestone, reaching a record-breaking 48 million YouTube subscribers during his visit to Kenya.

He is one of the most prominent figures in internet culture today due to the following

  1. Streaming Content– he was originally a gaming streamer, known for NBA 2K and Fortnite, and he transitioned into massive In-Real-Life (IRL) streams, currently touring 20 countries across the continent, on what is dubbed the “Speed Does Africa” tour.
  2. His obsession with Cristiano Ronaldo– Speed is a massive fan of soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo and often uses the ‘Siuuu’ celebration and bases much of his content around his quest to meet and support the player.
  3. His Virality– before the streaming era, he had gained notoriety for extreme reactions, including barking at the camera during games, and performing dangerous stunts, such as jumping over speeding luxury cars.

Early Life and Educational Background

Ishowspeed was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and his early life was defined by a deep passion for gaming and a complicated relationship with traditional schooling as his online career began to surge.

He is the son of Darren Watkins Sr., known online as “DaddySpeed,” and Tiffany Elizabeth Graves, who divorced when he was young. He primarily lived with his mother during his early years.

IshowSpeed’s younger brother, Dian, also referred to as “DayDay,” and a younger sister who has occasionally appeared in his streams.

His great-grandfather founded Watkins Auto Parts in the 1950s, a legacy that was even referenced in the video game GTA VI.

Speed attended several schools in the Cincinnati area before transitioning to online learning to accommodate his flourishing career.

He attended Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy (CCPA) for his elementary and junior high studies, then spent his freshman year at Purcell Marian High School, where he played on the junior varsity basketball and football teams.

Due to excessive absences caused by his streaming schedule, he transferred to the Ohio Digital Learning School, an online institution in Maumee, Ohio, and officially graduated in June 2023, famously performing a backflip on stage after receiving his diploma.

Ishowspeed’s Career and Achievements

He registered his YouTube channel in 2016, at age 11, and initially posted gameplay of NBA 2K and Fortnite.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, schools closed, and he had nothing to do but game, so he began streaming seriously, which eventually led to his viral breakout in 2021.

Streamer of the Year – He consecutively won Streamer of the Year awards at the 2024 and 2025 Streamer Awards.

In August 2025, Rolling Stone named him the “Most Influential Creator of 2025”.

Before his Africa journey, he completed a 35-day Speed Does America tour across 25 U.S. states and a massive Southeast Asia tour that saw him reach 1 million concurrent viewers in Indonesia in late 2024.

On January 11, 2026, his livestream from Nairobi peaked at over 239,000 concurrent viewers, the highest to date during his Africa tour.

During this single broadcast, he gained over 360,000 new subscribers, officially crossing the 48 million-mark.

Family and Why He Matters

At 21 years old, Ishowspeed is not yet married, but there have been persistent internet rumors claiming that he has a child named Diamond, born in 2019, although Speed has never officially confirmed them.

Beyond his chaotic humor and “barking” persona, he has transitioned into a legitimate media powerhouse, with his visits frequently causing mass crowds and requiring police escorts, effectively shutting down” cities like Nairobi and Harare.

Kenyan government officials have credited his tour with repositioning the country’s global tourism image as a modern cultural hub.

Net worth

By 2026, his net worth is estimated at approximately $15 million, having become a millionaire at age 16.
