Hillary Barchok is a Kenyan politician and the Governor of Bomet County in Kenya.
Before entering politics, Barchok worked as a teacher at Mulot Secondary School, where he taught Chemistry and Mathematics for 10 years.
Later, he became a Senior Lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Education and Resources Development at Chuka University.
In politics, Barchok was first sworn in as Deputy Governor of Bomet County in August 2017 alongside Governor Joyce Laboso.
After Laboso’s death in July 2019, Barchok was sworn in as the third Governor of Bomet County in August 2019 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022.
Barchok was born in 1973.

He began his school life at Kapkimolwa Primary School in 1981 before proceeding to Kericho High School for his secondary school education in 1990.
He was a School Captain and the Christian Union (CU) Chairperson at Kericho High School between 1992 and 1993.
Later, he joined Egerton University for his undergraduate studies in 1995, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Science Education) Degree and proceeded to pursue a Master’s in the same institution in 2003.
Prof. Barchok was a student leader and served as the Chairperson of Bomet Egerton University Students Association (BEUSA) in 1999. In 2007, he enrolled in his PhD studies (Curriculum Development) at Moi University and graduated in 2011.
Career life
Hillary Barchok started his teaching career at Mulot Secondary School in 2001, teaching Chemistry and Mathematics for 10 years.
During this time, he also served as Director of Studies and a Kenya National Examinations Council examiner.
He lectured part-time at Kabianga University College and Moi University Kericho Campus before joining Chuka University in 2011, where he rose to Senior Lecturer and served as Dean of the Faculty of Education and Resources Development from 2012 to 2017.

Barchok has also served as the Director of Retirement and Benefit Authorities (RBA) and Chairman of the University Survey Committee.
