Business Bay Square (BBS) has signed a Ksh65 billion deal to develop 60 acres at the Tatu City Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
According to a statement shared by Tatu City on October 10, the project, led by BBS Founder and Chairman Abdiweli Hassan, will feature residential homes, retail spaces, offices, logistics facilities, and a mosque.
“Tatu City proudly welcomes Business Bay Square Founder & Chairman Abdiweli Hassan, OGW, EBS, as he embarks on a Ksh65 billion development spanning 60 acres within Tatu City Special Economic Zone,” read the statement.
Hassan is known for transforming Eastleigh through the Business Bay Square Mall, East and Central Africa’s largest shopping and entertainment complex, which spans over 130,000 square meters and includes more than 1,000 shops and restaurants.

At Tatu City, the new project will include high-quality housing adjacent to 30 acres of parks and recreation spaces, as well as commercial developments such as a petrol station and offices, and warehousing and logistics hubs within the Tatu Industrial Park.
A mosque will also be located near homes and schools to serve the growing population.
The development timeline for the full 60 acres is 10 years, with designs underway and construction set to begin within a year.
“BBS Mall changed how people viewed Eastleigh, showing that thoughtful development can reshape neighborhoods and improve how people live and work. Now, the future of development is moving beyond the city center, where there’s space to build holistic communities with everything people need — schools, offices, entertainment, shops, and recreation. Tatu City offers exactly that: a well-planned environment free from congestion and the hassles of commuting,” said Abdiweli Hassan.
