Tatu City, the leading urban development project in Kenya, has announced a series of leadership changes aimed at strengthening its board and leadership structure.
Rendeavour, the owner and developer of Tatu City, has appointed David Kippen as the new chairperson, succeeding the founding chair, Frank Mosier.
Mosier, who has played a crucial role in shaping the project, retired as chair, having served in that position for more than eight years.
However, he remains the largest shareholder and will continue to contribute to the project in a new role on the Board of Directors.
At the same time, the new city builder in Africa picked two new independent directors, Graeme Wheeler and Darrell M. Blocker.
Tatu City Appoints David Kippen as Chair
Stephen Jennings, the founder and CEO of Rendeavour, expressed his satisfaction with the new appointments, emphasizing the diverse expertise that the new leadership brings to the table.

In David, we have a long-serving director; in Graeme, we have a globally renowned economist, central banker, and policymaker; and in Darrell, we have one of the most respected intelligence officers to have served in Africa,” Jennings said.

He added, “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Frank Mosier for his eight years as chairman and his ongoing support for Rendeavour as the company’s principal American shareholder,” Jennings said.
On the Rendeavour board, Kippen represents Torstein Hagen, the founder, chairman and CEO of Viking Cruises and a long-time Norwegian investor in Rendeavour.
Education and Professional Career of New Chairman
David Kippen, based in London, is a seasoned private equity and infrastructure investor with over 30 years of experience.
His career spans the TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecommunications), energy, and industrial sectors, having worked with prestigious firms such as Credit Suisse First Boston, JPMorgan Chase, and UBS in London, New York, and San Francisco.
Throughout his career, Kippen has completed more than 45 M&A transactions, along with private and public debt and equity financings across OECD and emerging markets.

Additionally, he has developed cross-border ventures, worked with growth-stage companies, and served as an interim CFO.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in Montreal and a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins/SAIS in Washington, DC.
Rendeavour is the owner and developer of Tatu City, Kenya’s first operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ); Alaro City, a partnership with the Lagos State Government in Nigeria’s Lekki Free Zone; Jigna, in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja; and Kiswishi SEZ, the first private SEZ in DRC. In Ghana, Rendeavour is building Appolonia City and King City.
