Qatar Charity has launched a series of humanitarian and development initiatives in Kenya, aiming to help vulnerable communities across 10 counties

During the Official launch in Nairobi, Qatar’s ambassador to Kenya Mohammed Mutair stated that the projects are meant to improve access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

He added that the project reflects the good relationship between Qatar and Kenya in many sectors.

“Also, this project reflects the good relationship between the state of Qatar and the Republic of Kenya in many sectors,” Mohammed said.

On his part, Qatar Charity’s Kenya Country Director, Adel Daboubi, said the organisation is focused on mobilising resources and creating meaningful partnerships to drive change on the ground.

Among the key interventions are the distribution of food and medical supplies in drought-affected areas, the construction of multi-service institutions, and micro-finance initiatives aimed at boosting self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

Chief guest Charlene Ruto lauded the charity for championing sustainable, community-led development. She noted that the initiatives align with broader national goals to uplift marginalized regions.

Adel Daboubi, Country Director of Qatar Charity in Kenya, also emphasised the organization’s commitment to resource mobilization and forging impactful partnerships to deliver tangible change at the grassroots level.

“For the last decades, Qatar Charity has grown to become one of the largest humanitarian and development organizations in the world, providing life-saving assistance to those affected by natural disaster crises and conflicts,” Adel noted.

Items Donated by Qatar Charity

The program brings a wide range of essential items and livelihood tools designed to offer immediate relief and future opportunities for self-sufficiency.

Among the items donated are: 100 electric and 100 manual wheelchairs for persons with disabilities, 1,000 desks and chairs for under-resourced schools,130 tuk-tuks for cargo transport and 130 for passenger use, 50 flour milling machines, and 200 electric sewing machines to support tailoring businesses, among others

The distributed items are expected to enhance access to mobility for people living with disabilities, improve the learning environment in under-resourced schools, and equip beneficiaries with the means to generate income and improve their livelihoods.

Charlene Ruto, who was the chief guest, commended Qatar Charity for its dedication to sustainable, community-driven development, highlighting how its efforts complement national strategies aimed at empowering underserved areas.

The initiative focuses on humanitarian relief, education, health, water and sanitation, economic empowerment, orphan sponsorship, sustainable development, and social welfare to support vulnerable communities worldwide.

Qatar Charity Formation

Qatar Charity was officially established in 1992 as a humanitarian and development non-governmental organization based in Doha, Qatar.  Its formation was driven by the urgent need to support children orphaned by wars, particularly the Afghanistan conflict.
