Qualified and interested tutors have a chance to secure employment after the County Government of Bungoma announced permanent and pensionable vacancies for trained Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers.
In an advert on Wednesday, October 25, Bungoma County Public Service Board (PSB) said competent and qualified candidates will fill vacant positions in the Department of Education and Vocational training.
The County will recruit 90 ECDE teachers with diplomas under job group H and another 110 with certificates under job group G.
“Persons interested should check on the County website www.bungoma.go.ke for the requirements for appointment and duties and responsibilities for each post,” read the advert in part.

Moreover, interested candidates are required to send their applications via email address cpsb.bungoma50200@gmail.com or physically submit them to the county PSB.
Applications should include detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), copies of academic and professional certificates duly certified, and testimonials.
Also, the applicants should attach their National Identification Card or Passport and any other supporting documents.
“The applications should be submitted in sealed envelopes, clearly indicating the position applied for on the top left side of the envelope,” said the PSB.
Additionally, the advert directed Bungoma residents to indicate their sub-county and ward of residence in their applications.

“Hand delivered applications should be submitted to the County PSB offices located next to the Governor’s Office,” added the advert.
Further, the PSB encouraged the youth, women, persons with disabilities, minority, and marginalized groups to apply for the posts.
“Bungoma County PSB does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment and selection process,” noted the advert.
In addition, the PSB warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification, adding that it will only contact shortlisted candidates.
The County Requirements & Responsibilities
To begin with, the two groups of ECDE teachers will perform similar roles after their appointment.
This includes organizing and facilitating play and learning activities to enable children to cope with primary school life.
Also, the teachers will care and nurture spiritual, moral, social, mental, and physical growth of children.
“Managing ECDE centres, keeping professional records (schemes of work and lesson plans) daily programme of activities and ensuring children’s safety and security,” said the PSB.
Further, the teachers will prepare and develop play and learning materials for the children.

For appointment to grade H, a candidate must have a minimum grade C (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Minimum Grade C (Plain) or its approved equivalent.
The candidate must also have a diploma in ECDE offered by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or its approved equivalent.
On the hand, candidates applying for job group G must have minimum Grade D (Plain) in KCSE and Certificate in ECDE offered by the KNEC.
Furthermore, all applicants for the two job groups must register with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
