The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has opened a free online training programme for senior school teachers on Competency-Based Assessment (CBA).
In a notice issued on Tuesday, January 13, KNEC said the training is available through its Educational Assessment Resource Centre (EARC) and aims to equip teachers with the skills required to effectively implement CBA at the senior school level.
“The online training for senior school teachers on Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) is now available for free on the KNEC portal,” the council announced.
According to KNEC, the self-paced programme is designed to help teachers acquire the requisite competencies for assessment under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Access to the portal is currently free.
How to access the training
Teachers are required to visit the portal via https://cbalms.knec.ac.ke/ and click on the “Sign Up” option. After completing their profiles and ensuring all mandatory fields are correctly filled, users should click “Register”.

Once registered, teachers can navigate to “My Courses,” access the course catalogue, and select the Senior School & Vocational Skills course. Learners must then subscribe to the course, choose a learning path, and click “Introduction” to begin.
KNEC noted that participants must complete one unit before proceeding to the next, in line with the structured learning approach adopted by the portal.
KNEC releases KPSEA and KILEA performance reports
Meanwhile, KNEC has announced that the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) performance reports are now available for access by schools and candidates.
In a notice, the examinations body said candidates can access their KPSEA performance reports by visiting https://kpsea.knec.ac.ke, where they are required to enter the candidate’s assessment number and at least one name, accept the privacy and access notice, and then search for the report.
KNEC clarified that KILEA candidates will receive their performance reports through their respective schools.

The council further noted that schools can access individual learner performance reports via the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal at https://cba.knec.ac.ke, allowing institutions to review detailed assessment outcomes under the Competency-Based Curriculum.
“Schools can access the individual learner performance reports on the CBA portal,” KNEC said, adding that the reports are intended to support learning progression and informed academic planning.
The release of the performance reports comes as KNEC continues to roll out key assessment milestones under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.
