Several public universities have welcomed the release of the 2026/2027 placement results by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and congratulated newly admitted students on their official social media platforms after securing thousands of first-year placements.
According to figures released by the respective universities, Maseno University will admit the highest number of government-sponsored students this year, with 9,196 first-year students.
Moi University follows with 8,869 students, while Chuka University is set to admit a record 7,946 students.
Kisii University will welcome 7,903 first-year students, comprising 4,004 male and 3,899 female learners.
In a message shared on its official social media platforms, Kisii University congratulated incoming students and welcomed them to the institution.
“Congratulations to you all for being placed with us. We look forward to making your acquaintance soon,” the university wrote.
Kisii University’s School of Business received the highest allocation with 2,126 students, followed by the School of Health Sciences with 1,919.
The School of Agriculture will admit 1,227 students, the School of Information Science 844, the School of Arts and Social Sciences 754, the School of Education 625, the School of Pure Sciences 338, while the School of Law received 70 students.

Tharaka University also celebrated what it described as a historic milestone after announcing that it had received 6,336 KUCCPS placements, earning a spot among the top 10 universities with the highest student admissions this year.
Other universities that recorded high admissions include Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology with 7,586 students, University of Eldoret with 6,671, University of Kabianga with 5,044, Kibabii University with 3,535, Maasai Mara University with 3,230, Turkana University with 2,994, and Kaimosi Friends University with 2,289 students.
Universities Set to Admit the Highest Number of First-Year Students Through KUCCPS (2026/2027)
The celebrations come after KUCCPS placed 202,133 students into degree programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year. Overall, 293,869 applicants secured places across universities and other tertiary institutions.

According to KUCCPS, 980,535 candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination were eligible to apply for placement.
Of these, 268,729 attained the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above, qualifying for degree programmes.
The placement agency said the remaining candidates were eligible for programmes offered in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, national polytechnics, the Kenya Medical Training College, teacher training colleges, Kenya Utalii College and other tertiary institutions.
Overall, 293,869 students were placed across higher education institutions, including 202,133 admitted to degree programmes, 28,246 to KMTC, 500 to the Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) programme at the Kenya School of Law, 765 to Kenya Utalii College and 875 to secondary teacher training colleges.
For the 2026/2027 placement cycle, the Commission for University Education approved 327,157-degree vacancies across 43 public and 33 private universities.
