Starehe Boys’ Centre (SBC) has completed its independent, Starehe-compliant selection of 410 students for admission into Grade 10 in 2026.
In a statement dated December 30, the school confirmed that the selection list had received approval from the Ministry of Education and was released alongside the national Grade 10 placements later in the day without any amendments.
“SBC has completed its independent Starehe-compliant selection of 410 students to join Grade 10 in 2026. Our list has been accepted by the Ministry and will be released without amendment with the rest of the national selection in the course of the day,” read the Starehe Boys Centre’s statement in part.
Starehe Boys Centre Issues Way Forward For Learners
Additionally, the school administration informed parents of the selected students that they will be contacted by the school in the coming days with guidance on the next steps in the admission process.
The SBC Director expressed gratitude to Old Starehians for their continued support of the selection team, emphasising the collective effort that ensured a transparent and merit-based process.

Grade 10 Placement Update: Over 211,000 Learners Get Reviewed School Seats
Following the initial placement, the ministry confirmed receiving a total of 355,457 applications for review, with each learner allowed to lodge up to four applications.
Upon consideration, 211,636 learner applications have been approved. The rest of the applications have been declined mainly due to the absence of the preferred subject combinations and the lack of capacity in the selected schools, and the learners have been advised accordingly.

According to the education CS, Julius Ogamba, up to 20,000 applications for schools like Alliance High School, Kenya High School and Mang’u High School, against an average capacity of 500 slots. Thus far, a total of 88% of all learners have been placed in line with their original or revised selections.
However, he confirmed that interested learners will still have an opportunity to apply for further review from 6th January, 2026, to 9th January, 2026.
At present, 51% of the learners have been placed in the STEM pathway; 38% of the learners have been placed in the Social Sciences pathway, while 11% of the learners have been placed in the Arts & Sports Science pathway.
