The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development has advertised paid internship job opportunities for Kenyans under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP).
In a notice, the ministry said it seeks to recruit 4,000 interns who will work under the supervision of professional consultants already engaged and contracted by the State Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“The State Department for Housing and Urban Development (SDHUD) is therefore pleased to announce the recruitment drive of up to 10,000 university graduates in various Lots. This Lot 1 seeks to recruit 4000 interns,” reads part of the notice.
“The Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) is an intervention to construct 200,000 homes for Kenyans by activating housing projects across the country. This in turn has generated the opportunity for engagement of young professionals in the built environment and related sectors.”
Internship Job Opportunities
The recruitment will bring on board young people to work as interns in the field of Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering.
Furthermore, the Ministry seeks to recruit interns who have specialized in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geoinformatics and Landscape Architecture.

The Ministry is also looking for interns with experience in Interior Design, Social Development, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Scientists and Health and Safety.
Also, the Ministry of lands is looking for competent candidates specialized in Land Surveyors, Communication and Branding and Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to a graduate internship position, a candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree in the above outlined disciplines from a recognized university.
The ministry indicated that the duration of the internship is a period of twelve (12) months.

How to apply and Remuneration
Interested and qualified graduates are urged to apply through the portal www.ahpjobs by July 19, 2024.
The interns will be remunerated in accordance with terms governing internship as per the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Also to note, interns working under registered professionals will maintain work portfolios which will form part of requirements leading to professional examination and registration.
Upon successful completion of the internship programme, the interns will be issued with a testimonial and a certificate.
