Paul Wanderi Ndung’u is a prominent investor in Kenya’s telecom and gaming sectors, known for his strategic business ventures and market influence.
Ndung’u is the founder of Mobicom Kenya, one of the country’s largest mobile phone retail chains, boasting over 85 outlets and annual revenues exceeding $50 million.
He began his career as an early dealer for Safaricom before shifting his focus to Telkom Kenya, where he built a robust retail network that has become a key player in the local telecom market.
Paul Wanderi Leadership Journey
In addition to his telecom ventures, Ndung’u held a 17% stake in Pevans East Africa, the parent company of SportPesa.
However, in 2021, the businessman was removed from the boards of the international businesses of gaming firm SportPesa.
Ndung’u’s leadership extends across multiple companies. He currently serves as Chairman of Mobicom Investments Ltd., Mobicom Kenya Ltd., Taipan Properties Ltd., and Rift Valley Science Ltd.
Additionally, he has been a Director at CMC Holdings Ltd. since 2007, and Group Managing Director of Glory Forex Bureau Ltd., The Village Market Forex Bureau Ltd., and Taipan Forex Bureau Ltd.
Additionally, he serves on the boards of Safari Ting Ting Ltd. and Swift International Ltd. Previously, he was a Non-Executive Director at Olympia Capital Holdings Ltd.

His Stake at SportsPesa
Paul Wanderi Ndung’u became a household name in Kenya after his shareholding in SportPesa Global Holdings Limited dropped sharply from 17% to 2.83% in 2020, followed by his delisting as a director in January 2021.
SportPesa, which had been operating through Pevans East Africa, also faced regulatory and tax challenges in Kenya, including battles with the Betting Control and Licensing Board.
In response, CEO Ronald Karauri and other directors initiated a revival strategy in June 2020 under a new company, Milestone Games Limited, while retaining the SportPesa trade name.
This restructuring effectively excluded Ndung’u from the company’s leadership, cementing their exit from its operational management.
