Starting June 22, 2026, Kenyans can now download and print a birth certificate online directly from home, eliminating the need to visit Huduma centers or civil registry offices.
This major reform was announced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and is spearheaded by the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services.
“Kenyans can now download and print birth certificates online, a significant step towards improving accessibility and reducing the time required to obtain essential documents,” he said.
Where to Apply for an Online Birth Certificate
Applicants are required to begin the process by visiting the Civil Registration Services portal on eCitizen Civil Registration Services Portal.
The platform serves as the official government portal for birth certificate applications and other civil registration services.
Users must then create an account or log in through eCitizen Kenya using their registered credentials to access available services.
After logging into the portal, applicants should navigate to the Civil Registration Department section and click the “Get Service” button to begin the certificate application process.
