CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited is part of the CFAO Group, a large French multinational. The Group is fully owned by Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) of Japan.
CFAO Mobility Kenya has a network of 36 branches, dealerships, and authorised service centres nationwide that provide exceptional after-sales services.
The unrivalled service network offers a wide range of vehicles, including Toyota, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Hino models, as well as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Sinotruck, and Hyundai.
Additionally, the Company offers services under its certified pre-owned vehicle brand, Automark, its AUTOFAST service centres, and its genuine Spare and Service parts brand – Winpart.
It partners with leading international brands covering the entire value chain – imports, wholesale, retail, logistics, and manufacturing.
CFAO Mobility Group is a prominent automotive distributor in Africa, operating in 46 out of 54 countries.
The company holds a strong position across various sectors such as mobility, healthcare, consumer goods, infrastructure, and energy.
The mobility division supplies a range of new passenger and commercial vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, tyres, and handling equipment from 53 globally recognised brands.
CFAO Mobility History
CFAO Mobility Group’s history in Kenya dates back to 1948 when Colonel David Theodore Dobie acquired the Mercedes-Benz franchise for East Africa for saloon and heavy commercial vehicles.
In 1949, Col. D.T Dobie established D.T Dobie in Kenya, which his wife later took over in 1971.
TTC launched Toyota Business Kenya in 1964 and awarded D.T Dobie the exclusive franchise for Nissan passenger and light commercial vehicles in Kenya.
In 1990, TTC started the Yamaha operations in Kenya and later entered into a joint venture with Lonrho Africa nine years thereafter.

In 2001, TTC acquired 100% of Toyota Kenya.
CFAO acquired D.T Dobie in 2000, prior to TTC acquiring a 98% stake in the company.
In 2016, TTC acquired full ownership of CFAO Volkswagen Polo Vivo and resumed local assembly of passenger cars after a 40-year break.
The following year, TTC integrated all African operations under CFAO, including Toyota Kenya. In 2022, Toyota Kenya and D.T Dobie rebranded as CFAO Motors Kenya.

Who owns TTC?
Toyota Motor Corporation is the largest shareholder, holding approximately 21.8%.
The remaining shares are publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
They are owned by institutional investors like banks, funds, individual investors, and other Toyota Group affiliates.
Mergers & Acquisition
Other mergers and acquisitions include TTC acquiring additional shares of Tomen Electronics Corporation, transforming it into a wholly owned subsidiary in 2014.
Subsequently, it merged with Business of Tomen Electronics to establish NEXTY Electronics Corporation in 2017.
In August 2022, TTC acquired further shares of Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation and made it a wholly owned subsidiary.
