The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) announced nationwide recruitment of 10,000 police officers.
The recruitment will take place between Friday, October 3, and Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Successful candidates normally undergo training in one of the police training colleges before joining the National Police Service (NPS).
Preparing for life at a Police Recruitment Training Centre in Kenya requires mental, physical, emotional, and academic readiness.
The training is rigorous and designed to transform recruits into disciplined, skilled, and ethical police officers.
Know What to Expect
NPS conducts training for recruits at Kiganjo Police Training College and other police training colleges.
Candidates should expect Military-style discipline and routine, Physical drills and combat training, Academic and legal instruction (law, police procedures), Weapons training, and team-building and leadership development
They should prepare for limited personal freedom and strict rules.

Physical Preparation
Police training is physically demanding, and candidates should start preparing at least 2-3 months before reporting so that their bodies can adjust.
They should do daily runs, push-ups, sit-ups, and squats to improve strength and endurance.
They should eat a healthy diet with high-protein, balanced meals, and stay hydrated
On the contrary, they should avoid laziness, poor sleep habits, smoking, excessive drinking, crash dieting, or overtraining right before training.
Mental & Emotional Readiness
Candidates should prepare for a tough life at the training centre, which includes shouting, early mornings, and strict discipline.
They should practice discipline, including waking up early, following a routine, obeying rules, and demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and respect for authority.

Academic Preparation
Candidates should be conversant with topics like the Kenyan Constitution and Law, Human rights, Criminal investigation procedures, Ethics and integrity, First aid, Communication, and report writing.
They should start reading about these areas, and clear written and spoken English, and Kiswahili
Personal Preparation
Ensure you carry National ID, Admission letter, Academic Certificates, and other documents as directed by the NPSC.
The candidate must also provide medical reports (if applicable) and clearance certificates from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
