Susan Nakhumicha is a Kenyan politician who has been nominated as the Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Kenya to the United Nations (UN) Habitat, Nairobi.

She was born in 1979 in Londiani, Kericho County, but the family moved and settled in Trans Nzoia, where she grew up.
Nakhumicha sat for her KCPE in Baraton Primary School in Kiminini constituency in Trans Nzoia in 1992 before joining Mary Hill Girls High School.

She did a Diploma in Pharmacy at the Kenya Medical Training College.
In 2006, she enrolled for another diploma in Healthcare Management at the Kenya Institute of Management.

She joined JKUAT in 2007 and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Management.
Afterwards, she studied a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics, Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management at the same University.
She was also pursuing a PhD in Business Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Research, Procurement and Logistics.
Career & Experience
She started her career as a warehouse operator at Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies before she was promoted to a purchasing manager.
Nakhumicha worked at the Mission from 2007 to 2013.
She then joined Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) as a procurement intern from September to December 2013.
Nakhumicha later joined the Nairobi Women’s Group for over two years from January 2014 to June 2016 after she was appointed the procurement and logistics manager.

Susan Nakhumicha’s Political Career
In 2022, she vied for the Trans Nzoia women representative seat on a Ford Kenya Party ticket but lost to UDA’s Lilian Siyoi.
In 2022, President William Ruto nominated Nakhumicha as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health.
She was serving at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Global Programs for Research and Training before her nomination to the Cabinet.

However, Nakhumicha was among the CSs who were dismissed from the cabinet in July last year 2024, after the anti-government protests.
She stayed in the cold for around nine months before her nomination as Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Kenya to the UN-Habitat, Nairobi.
In a statement after her latest nomination, Nakhumicha said, “My heart, if I do not say a word of thanks, if I do not acknowledge God’s goodness, may my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth. Ahsante Rais!”
Net Worth
During her vetting in October 2022, Nakhumicha disclosed her net worth to be Ksh101 million.
“My net worth of a townhouse and rental apartments in Syokimau.I have land in Kangundo, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega and shares and deposits in Waumini and UN Women. I have dividends from Cooperative Bank of Kenya,” she said.
