The Social Health Authority (SHA) has contracted several healthcare facilities in Narok County, categorized by management type and their Kenya Essential Package for Health (KEPH) levels.
Under the SHA-approved network are public and private hospitals, health centers, medical centers, dispensaries, and specialized clinics that offer healthcare services to residents across the county.
Narok County has also been at the center of discussions on the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA), with Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu raising concerns over low registration levels among residents.
In June 2025, the governor revealed that only 22 percent of the county’s population had enrolled in the scheme, prompting the county government to launch sensitization campaigns to increase uptake.
The governor noted that many patients seeking treatment in public hospitals had not registered for SHA, despite the program helping beneficiaries offset medical bills.
“We have not been doing as well as other counties. So far, we have only registered 22 percent of our population. We have received reports that the majority of patients seeking medication in our hospitals have not registered with SHA, which is supposed to help them settle their medical bills,” Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu stated on the SHA registration process in the county.
Despite the low registration numbers, county leaders have maintained that SHA has improved access to healthcare through a growing network of accredited hospitals, health centers and clinics across the county.
