Kakamega Homeboyz Football Club has introduced a new performance contract for its players and technical staff, outlining stringent obligations, disciplinary measures, and financial penalties.
The contract, signed by club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, grants management the authority to adjust rules as necessary and consult governing bodies, including FIFA, CAF, FKF, and KPL, in cases where regulations are unclear.
According to the chairman, the new rules are aimed at enforcing professionalism and discipline, although several complaints have been made against them, which have triggered unrest within the squad.
Management Structure
According to the new contract, the chairperson or patron will be the head of all club officials.
In the absence of the chairperson, the deputy chairperson shall assume the same position and chair meetings.
All minutes shall be recorded by the CEO during meetings; however, the CEO shall not participate in voting on any matters.
The coach, team manager, assistant coach, technical director, and goalkeeper trainer may attend meetings but will not have voting rights.
Furthermore, the rules stipulate that the Kakamega Homeboyz management may adjust the rules at any time as deemed necessary. In cases where the rules are silent, the management shall consult FIFA, CAF, FKF, and KPL.
Training Discipline
Any player who misbehaves or disobeys instructions during training, the rules stipulate, will be fined Ksh1,000 and have their monthly salary deducted.
Missing training without a valid reason results in a seven-day suspension and a fine of Ksh500 per day.
In addition, any player found intoxicated with alcohol or drugs during training will face a three-day suspension and a fine of Ksh1,000 per day.
The coach is responsible for maintaining order during training sessions. Any player removed from training for misconduct will be allowed to return the next day.
If the same mistakes are repeated, the player may face expulsion and forfeiture of salary.
Persistent misconduct or repeated violations will lead to expulsion from the club.
Lastly, players are expected to attend training as scheduled and work to improve performance standards.
Match Attendance
Any player who fails to attend a scheduled game without a valid reason will face a three-day suspension and a fine of KSh2,000 per day.
Persistent failure to attend matches will lead to dismissal without notice.
In cases of dismissal, the player will only receive salary for the month immediately preceding termination.
Players are expected to report promptly for all games and maintain discipline during official fixtures.
Field Misconduct
Any player who receives a red card for fighting, abusive language, anger, or retaliation will face a fine of Ksh5,000 and a suspension for two matches, with each missed match attracting an additional Ksh1,000 fine.
Players are also expected to maintain discipline during all official fixtures and avoid conduct that damages the club’s image or the integrity of the game.
Player Obligations
Further, according to the rules, every player selected by the club must carry the club badge or insignia during official duties authorized by the club.
Players must attend all scheduled training sessions and sign the code of conduct, strictly following all provisions of the regulations and any lawful instructions given by coaches or club officials.
Drug Policy and Severe Breaches
The use of prohibited drugs or substances under anti-doping regulations by any Kakamega Homeboyz player or staff is also strictly forbidden.
Any player found guilty of drug use will face immediate expulsion from the club and will be banned for a period of not less than three years without salary.
