The Credit Information Sharing Association of Kenya has appointed Andrew Kioi Njeru as its Chief Executive Officer.
In a notice dated February 25, the Association’s Governing Council, through its Chairman Gamaliel Hassan, announced the appointment, which took effect on February 16, 2026.
“The Governing Council of the Credit Information Sharing Association of Kenya (CIS Kenya) is pleased to announce the appointment of MR. ANDREW KIOI NJERU as the Chief Executive Officer of CIS Kenya, effective 16th February 2026,” the notice read in part.
The Credit Information Sharing Association of Kenya said Andrew Kioi Njeru joins the Association at a pivotal stage in the evolution of Kenya’s credit ecosystem.
Additionally, it stated that it continues to play a central role in promoting a transparent, efficient, and inclusive credit market under its guiding principle, “Towards a More Open Credit Market.”
“Our mandate to facilitate the generation and use of accurate credit information remains fundamental to strengthening financial stability, expanding access to credit, and supporting the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs),” the association noted.
Andrew Kioi Njeru’s Education and Career Life
Andrew Kioi Njeru is a seasoned financial services executive with over a decade of senior leadership experience in Kenya’s banking sector.
His professional background is anchored in credit risk management, regulatory compliance, policy formulation, and data-driven innovation.
Andrew Kioi graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics and Mathematics from Kenyatta University.
Later, he earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Nairobi.
Additionally, Kioi is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).
Throughout his career, Njeru has contributed to the industry’s knowledge base through peer-reviewed research in credit risk management.

Recognised as an award-winning credit risk professional, Njeru has led transformative initiatives in credit information automation and in enhancing bureau data quality.
According to the CIS statement, it expects that under Andrew Kioi Njeru’s leadership, the Association will continue to champion data quality and integrity.
“Under his leadership, CIS Kenya will continue to champion data quality and integrity, stakeholder collaboration, strengthen governance, advance advocacy efforts, deepen partnerships, enhance data quality and compliance frameworks, including ongoing work around the CIS ValiData tool,” it partly stated.

The Credit Information Sharing Association of Kenya is an industry association that promotes responsible credit information sharing across Kenya’s financial sector.

It supports banks, microfinance institutions, SACCOs, and digital lenders in strengthening data quality, transparency, and credit risk management.
Founded in 2012, the Association is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Its regulatory partners include the Central Bank of Kenya and the Ministry of Finance.
CIS Kenya emerged from the financial industry’s initiative to improve credit reporting and lending decisions.
It acts as a self-regulatory body coordinating information exchange among credit providers and ensuring compliance with the Credit Information Sharing regulations under the Central Bank of Kenya.
