The Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) has announced a total of 10,000 vacancies for qualified Kenyans to apply.
In an advertisement, KICTANet called for Kenyans to apply for the mass opportunities aimed towards implementing a project titled “Strengthening Digital Communities”.

KICTANet is a multistakeholder think tank for ICT policy and regulation which acts as a catalyst for reform in the ICT sector. The network provides mechanisms and a framework for continuing cooperation and collaboration in ICT matters.
According to the network, the opportunities announced are in collaboration with the UK Government’s Digital Access Program through the British High Commission in Nairobi, the Government of Kenya through the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, ICT Authority of Kenya, and the County Governments of Busia and Mandera.

Applicants will assume the roles of Community Digital Champions in the counties of Mandera and Busia.
“The Community Digital Champions will cascade the ICT Authority’s (ICTA) Foundational Digital Skills curriculum to the community level,” the advert reads in part.

Responsibilities for Community Digital Champions as listed by KICTANet
Successful applicants shall notably deliver high-quality training to the community on the ICTA Foundational Digital Skills curriculum through person-to-person sessions.

Also, they shall be involved in capacity building and mentorship by training community members on foundational ICT skills and provide ongoing support to the community.
KICTANet further noted that the successful applicants shall track the progress of community sensitization, provide regular updates to the project management team, and assist in the evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of the training program through reporting tools and feedback mechanisms.

Diploma / Degree from a recognized institution. Candidates with a certificate in Information Communication Technology from a recognized institution will have an added advantage.

Committed to dedicating time to attending the training.

Have the ability to deliver Foundational Digital Literacy Skills to at least 100 people and soon after training largely on a face-to-face and one-to-one basis.

Have access to stable internet.

Possess or have access to a digital device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop) for training purposes

Able to speak and understand the common dialects of their region in addition to English and Kiswahili.

KICTANet highlighted that the jobs shall be undertaken both remotely and on-site as required.

The network further highlighted that the jobs are under a part-time contract running for four months.
An allowance will be provided in addition to internet facilitation for those who will take up the Community Digital Champion (CDC) assignment.
Successful candidates will report to Program Coordinator, Digital Literacy Project. Deadline for applications is on October 31, 2024.
