Lang’ata constituency Member of Parliament Felix Oduor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has announced sponsorships opportunities for the youth.
In a notice on Saturday, September 28, the lawmaker announced that the sponsorships will be provided through the Lang’ata National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
“Langata NG-CDF wishes to sponsor interested youths for the following short courses which will be undertaken at Langata technical and vocational training center,” read part of the notice.
Shorts Courses to be Offered Under the Jalang’o Scholarship Program
Interested candidates will have the opportunity to pursue short courses in electrical and electronics, building and construction, and computer training.
Other available courses include hospitality management, food and beverage production, hair and beauty, and automotive engineering.

The courses will span a comprehensive duration of eight weeks, equating to two months of in-depth training.
During this period, participants will be equipped with hands-on learning and practical experience in their chosen disciplines.
Requirements Needed for the Application Process
Interested candidates must possess a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID). Additionally, they are required to be registered voters within Langata Constituency.
Additionally, applicants should have either a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent certificate.
Furthermore, candidates should be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old to be eligible for the scholarship opportunities.

How to Apply for the Sponsorship
Interested individuals are encouraged to visit the Langata Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in person on October 7, 2024, to complete their application forms.
This process will provide them with the opportunity to formally apply for the scholarship and secure a place in one of the various short courses offered through the NG-CDF sponsorship program.
UK Announces Scholarship for Kenyans
The Ministry of education and the commonwealth scholarship commission (CSC) in the UK had also announced scholarship opportunities for Kenyans.
In a notice dated August 27, the UK government stated that it will be offering ten (10) PhD and Nineteen (19) Masters full scholarships to Kenyan citizens tenable in 2025.
Furthermore, the awards are tenable at any approved UK University of Higher Education Institution with which the CSC has a part-funding agreement.
Online applications will open on 10th September 2024 and closes on 15th October 2024.
Applicants should have backgrounds in the following fields: Agriculture, Healthcare, Housing and Settlement, Digital and Creative Economy, and Transforming Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
