The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of assessors for the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examination papers.

Qualified Secondary school teachers and college tutors are invited to participate in the national examinations process.

According to the council, the recruitment exercise will run from June 22 to July 15, 2026, with successful applicants undergoing training.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will be recruiting Secondary School teachers/College tutors as assessors for the KCSE examination Oral and Practical papers between 22nd June and 15th July 2026. The professionals identified will be trained on-the-job during assessment of the 2026 KCSE examination papers,” KNEC said in a notice on June 30.

Further, the examination council clarified that teachers and tutors already listed in the KNEC assessor database are exempt from the application process.

KNEC Examinations Assessment Requirements

According to the council, the available vacancies cover seven examination papers, including oral and practical examinations.

Assessment will be made in examinations including Power Mechanics Practical (447/2), Electricity Practical (448/2), Aviation Technology Practical (450/2), French Oral Paper (501/3), German Oral Paper (502/3), Arabic Oral Paper (503/3), and Music Practical (511/1).

To be considered for recruitment, applicants must be practicing teachers or tutors in the subjects relevant to the examination council.

Further interested candidates should be registered and employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognized professional body.

Additionally, the council has emphasized that potential assessors are required to possess at least a diploma in education or in the relevant area of specialization.

KNEC has also clarified that interested candidates must not be under interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from their employer.

Applicants should also be aged 50 years and below at the time of application, according to the examination council.

Application Process

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the KNEC Examiners Portal https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke/.

Applicants with existing CP2 accounts are advised to log in using their usernames and passwords.

However, those who have forgotten their passwords can use the password reset option and enter their registered mobile phone numbers to obtain new login credentials.

Alternatively, candidates can SMS the word “password” to 22262 to reset the password and use the new password to log in to their account.

Teachers and tutors without CP2 accounts will be required to create an account, which they will use to submit their application.

To create a new account for first-time users, the applicant will be required to key in their registered phone number and confirm the number to receive a password.

After receiving the confirmation of successful account creation, the user will also receive a link to access the CP2 system.

Upon successful login, applicants should complete their personal profiles and save the details before proceeding with the application.

On personal profiles created by the applicant, the applicant should proceed to select the ‘apply for assessor’s vacancies’ option and apply for the available positions.

KNEC has, however, cautioned that the number of vacancies is limited and that only qualified applicants who submit all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.

Eligible teachers and tutors interested in serving as KCSE assessors are encouraged to submit their applications before the July 15, 2026, deadline.
