Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)-listed TPS Eastern Africa PLC (TPSEAP) has appointed Shahzad Karim and Serah Katusya as non-executive directors.
In a notice dated July 14, the company noted that the appointments are in pursuance of the Capital Markets Regulations, 2023.
Further, the announcement of the non-executive directors has been promulgated under the Capital Market Act and approved by the company’s Board of Directors.
“This announcement is made pursuant to Regulation 10.1.1 of Part XIV of the Capital Markets Regulations 2023, promulgated under the Capital Markets Act (cap. 485A),” the notice read.
According to the operator of Serena Hotels across East Africa, the addition of the two non-executive directors will enable the hospitality group to navigate the evolving business environment.
Serah Katusya Joins NSE-Listed Company Board
Serah Katusya is a highly regarded business leader with extensive experience in marketing and organizational transformation, according to the company.
Katusya currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Belva Group Kenya.
As the CEO, Serah oversees strategic planning, business development, and operational growth.
Serah has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Hult International Business School and has completed the prestigious Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
In addition, she possesses postgraduate qualifications in Business, Strategic Marketing, General Management, and Operations from the University of Liverpool.

Before joining Belva Group, Katusya held several senior leadership positions within the advertising, media, and communications sectors.
Her positions include serving as Managing Director of GroupM Sub-Saharan Africa and Country Manager at WPP Scangroup Tanzania.
Professionally, Serah has gained experience working with several brands, including Safaricom, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble (P&G), KCB Bank, and Kenya Airways.
Currently, Serah Katusya serves as a non-executive director at the NSE-listed Company.
Making the announcement, the TPSEAP company secretary stated that the newly appointed non-executive directors are to undertake their roles effective from July 13.
“The Board of Directors of TPS Eastern Africa PLC (TPSEAP/ Company) wishes to announce it has appointed Ms. Serah Katusya as a director effective 13th July 2026,” Dominic Ng’ang’a stated.

Banker Shahzad Karim Joins TPS Eastern Africa’s Board
Ms. Shahzad Karim joins TPS Eastern Africa’s board with more than 40 years of experience in East Africa’s financial services sector.
According to the NSE-listed company, Karim has built an illustrious career in corporate and institutional banking, wholesale banking, credit management, lending, and strategic business development.
Shahzad Karim attained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.
Additionally, Shahzad has attained leadership credentials through executive education programs at Strathmore University Business School and the Yale School of Management.
Before her appointment at TPS, Karim spent over two decades at Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Kenya, where she served as Director of Corporate and Institutional Banking.
As the Director at DTB, Karim contributed to expanding the bank’s corporate portfolio, strengthening client relationships, and driving growth among multinational corporations, local enterprises, and institutional clients.
Further, Karim has served as Director of Special Business Projects at DTB Kenya and served on the board of Diamond Trust Bancassurance Intermediary Limited.
