Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop, also known as Buzeki, was known to many Kenyans during the electioneering period in 2017 when he rose to compete with former Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago.
Buzeki appeared in Forbes Magazine as one of the top ten richest Kenyans who made his first billion at the age of 30.
He was also popularly known for owning his thriving farmhouse in Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu County.
His success story traces him from milk hawking to a famous politician and a village billionaire who owns a chopper.
Educational Background
Buzeki began his education at Molo Academy in Nakuru and later joined Mang’u High School.
In 2005, he earned a Higher International Diploma in Sales and Marketing from Cambridge University.
Between 2011 and 2014, he pursued and completed a bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing at the American University.
Career Life
Buzeki’s entrepreneurial journey started in the late 1990s when he hawked milk on a bicycle in Mombasa, earning Ksh 80 a day.
Kilifi Plantations later hired him, where he rose from a hawker to become Regional Sales Manager. During his tenure, the company’s market share rose significantly.
Eventually, he left employment to start his own milk distribution business in the Coast region. His venture quickly grew into the largest milk distributor in Mombasa.
In 2008, he launched Buzeki Dairy with a 25,000-litre-per-day processing plant in Kilifi, followed by another expansion in 2010.
He later acquired and rebranded milk processing plants in Limuru and Mau Summit under the name “Molo Milk.” In 2013, he sold his dairy business to Brookside for an estimated Ksh 1.1 billion.
Post-sale, he diversified his investments into transport, coordination, oil, insurance, and fleet management.
He founded companies including Buzeki Enterprises, Bunoil Limited, Koima Motors, Transtruckers Logistics, Buzeki Insurance, and Buzeki Fleet System Management.
As of 2021, his fleet included 289 trucks and 141 trailers. However, his businesses were also servicing a loan of approximately Ksh 2.7 billion from NCBA Bank, which he began restructuring by 2023.
In politics, Buzeki contested for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2017 and 2022 but lost in both attempts.
He briefly joined Chama Cha Mashinani in 2019 but left before the 2022 general elections.
Family
Bundotich is married and has children. He maintains a low profile regarding his personal life and keeps details about his family out of the public domain.
Net Worth
Buzeki’s net worth was estimated to be around $30 million, equivalent to approximately Ksh 3 billion as of the year 2020.
His wealth primarily stems from the sale of his dairy company and his transport empire.
Despite financial obligations, including a substantial loan, he remains one of Kenya’s wealthiest businesspeople.
