Paul Karungo Wa Thang’wa is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Senator of Kiambu County.
Age and Early Life
Karungo’s year of birth is not publicly known, however, he is the youngest in a family of thirteen (13) siblings.
Karungo Education Background
He started his education at Mitahato Primary School from 1986-1994, where he did his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Karungo joined Komothai Boys High School in 1995 for his form one but later joined Mother of Apostles in 1996.
After completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), he joined the Media Network Training Institute and attained a Diploma in Journalism and Radio production in 2001.
He then joined the University of Nairobi from 2013-2016 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in development communication.
Career and Politics Background
In 2022, he became the Kiambu County Senator. His political career began in 2013 when he was elected Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ngewa Ward.
Later, he served in the County Executive Committee (CEC) as a member for youth affairs, sports, ICT, and communication in Kiambu.
Karungo became a part-time lecturer at NIBS College, teaching journalism and radio production before being promoted to brand communication manager in 2011.
From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a radio presenter at the China Radio International English department with a daily one-hour show on the Swahili Service.
He also worked at Kameme FM as the news editor, reporter, continuity presenter, and standby presenter of the breakfast show.
